Testament performing at The Ritz, Raleigh North Carolina 2016

Slayer w/ Testament & Carcass @ The Ritz

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 27TH, 2016 THE RITZ – RALEIGH The electricity in the air was palpable for the staff of RDU Music on Saturday night as we pregamed some drinks at Lan’s house while he strapped into his camera harness. [Editor’s Note: He looked like he was ready to go skydiving.] We were pretty stoked that Slayer’s North American Media Contact thought that we were cool enough for a photo pass, which is why I was so ecstatic with how Lan’s [...]

Bedowyn – “Leave the Living for Dead” music video

Video Release Raleigh's own Bedowyn dropped a heavy new music video yesterday for "Leave the Living for Dead" off of 2015's "Blood of the Fall." You should all watch it below in anticipation for their upcoming show at Slim's Downtown in Raleigh on March 18th, supported by The Hell No and Horseskull. https://vimeo.com/157283851

Slayer LIVE in Raleigh!

I’ve been excited for live shows many times in my life, but damn! Slayer, Testament, and Carcass?!?! I haven’t seen Slayer since Ozzfest ’99. That is entirely too fucking long to go without hearing “War Ensemble” live. I did catch Carcass play the Lincoln Theatre about a year ago and it was amazing. Get your asses to the Ritz tonight (2/27/16). You can’t swing a cat in there without hitting a bar. Seriously. They have like 13 bars in there. […]

Johnny Buscemi @ Stag’s Head

Johnny Buscemi Friday, August 7, 2015 Stag's Head, Raleigh -- RDU Music's own Johnny Buscemi (aka JMikes) once again brought his acoustic guitar and well-groomed beard to Stag's Head on Friday night for a soulful, acoustic set of covers peppered with a few original tunes. John has a breathy, melancholic tenor that conjures images of long drives through God's country with your best gal by your side and the windows rolled down. Not to mention long, pensive stares out of [...]
Refused performing at Red Hat Amphitheater Raleigh, North Carolina

Refused: The Shape of Punk Remains

The year of 1998 provided a plethora of amazing albums from all genres of music.  "Aeroplane Over the Sea" from Neutral Milk Hotel, "Aquemini" from Outkast, "XO" from Elliot Smith, "Miseducation..." from Lauryn Hill, and "End Hits" from Fugazi are a few personal favorites that come to mind.  That year also spawned some epic turds from Madonna, Master P, and Eve 6 but I'll save that vitriol for another article. (My disdain for Madonna could easily double the length of Moby [...]
Marilyn Manson @ Red Hat Amphitheater

Marilyn Manson & Smashing Pumpkins at Raleigh Red Hat Amphitheater

The End Times Tour Smashing Pumpkins / Marilyn Manson Sunday, July 26. 2015 Red Hat Amphitheater, Downtown Raleigh — I pulled into a parking garage near Red Hat Amphitheater on Sunday night in downtown Raleigh (or DTR if you’re nasty) with the entire RDU Music staff in tow. I was hungover from a party in Clayton the night before (don’t ask) but I was honestly giddy for the prospect of seeing two bands who played such integral parts of my […]

Brass Abs @ Kings

Adult Science Record Release Party @ Kings

King's Barcade played host to the record release party for local act, Adult Science.  Though a relatively new band with only a handful of shows under their belt, the turnout was great.  Since the last time I saw them play live (Local Band Local Beer @Tir Na Nog), I can honestly say they have progressed amazingly.  Frontman/guitarist, Speltron, took the stage with a bravado and classic "frontman" energy that was contrary to the soft-spoken person I had interacted with previously.  Perhaps [...]
The Antique Hearts @ Deep South

The Antique Hearts @ Deep South

Home town heroes The Antique Hearts performed last night at Deep South in downtown Raleigh. Their blend of Americana, Country and Rock was a refreshing change of pace to much of the local scene here in the Triangle. Soulful and thoughtful the guys played well into the night, bringing a modern flair to the styles of some of the American greats. We will make sure to keep you in the loop about upcoming local shows.

Clutch @ The Lincoln Theater

Clutch and Mastodon @ The Lincoln Theater Street Show

Clutch and Mastodon performed in front of the Lincoln Theater for an epic street show. It was surprising to see such a turnout for two notoriously heavier bands. The street was filled from Wilmington to Blount. Clutch performed a plethora of classics as well as a few newer tracks. Brent Hinds of Mastodon even joined them for DC Sound Attack. Mastodon ran through their staple of current concert songs. It was very reminiscent of their 2014 HopScotch performance. All in […]
